An Apple server was hacked by the group AntiSec, a collection of hackers from Anonymous and the group that has targeted Sony on a number of occasions, LulzSec. A document, according to reports contained 27 user names and passwords was posted online. Compared to other recent breaches, the attack on Apple was relatively light.
Vbulletin Customer Number Hack
vBulletin officials have put in place a mandatory password reset for all users after discovering it was subjected to a hack attack. They went on to warn that the attacker "may have accessed customer IDs and encrypted passwords on our system." A separate post on the vBulletin site makes reference to a security patch for versions 5.1.4 through 5.1.9 of the vBulletin Connect software package.
The details of the attack will not be disclosed, but Marsden noted that the incident did not involve any vBulletin exploits. In fact, the VBG website that was hacked (vbulletin-germany.com), on which vBulletin-owner Internet Brands runs licensing and support systems, does not use the vBulletin forum software.
When you look at the history of vBulletin sites being hacked, it's rarely 0-day vulnerabilities so we're usually not looking at an attack and saying "Wow, we've never seen that before!". Of course this does sometimes happen but vBulletin issues patches, people take them then we all move on. In theory. But in all seriousness, the next time you see vBulletin in the press, take a look at the version number of the site in question and see just how out of date it was.
October 12, 2017: After suffering a data breach in December 2015, the Hyatt hotel chain has fallen victim to hackers again. The company discovered unauthorized access to its payment card information for debit and credit cards that were swiped at the front desks of some of its properties. The stolen information includes card numbers, expiration dates, internal verification codes and cardholder names. At this point, Hyatt believes 41 of its properties in 11 countries were affected between March 18, 2017 and July 2, 2017. Only five properties in the U.S. were targeted: three were in Hawaii, while one was in Puerto Rico and the other in Guam.
December 1, 2017: Due to a vulnerability in their network, TIO Networks, which was recently acquired by PayPal, may have compromised the identities of over 1.6 million customers. The compromised data includes bank account information, payment card information, passwords and usernames for accounts and Social Security numbers. Although there has been no evidence that any of the customer data has been stolen, they are still treating this incident as a data breach. PayPal is offering free credit monitoring services to those impacted by this breach. 2ff7e9595c
